Overview of Randomized Trials in Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia RepairDepartment of Surgery, St. Antonius Hospital Nieuwegein, The Netherlands There are more than 20 randomized trials that compare laparoscopic with open hernia repair. Results of these show a longer operating time, less postoperative pain, a faster return to normal activity, and increased costs for laparoscopic over open hernia repair.
